One Year Blog Anniversary

A year ago April fifteenth I was in France celebrating my fortieth birthday with my family and on my fortieth birthday I launched my blog. On April fifteenth of this year, I was in France again. In light of the tragedy that happened on Monday, April fifteenth in Paris, I decided not to post this. Being in Paris while Notre Dame burned saddened my heart more than I could ever express. I was at the Eiffel Tower when I heard of the news. I thought about going down the Seine to Notre Dame but could not bring myself to watch in person. I have such wonderful memories of the church and didn’t want to tarnish those. Eleven minutes before the fire began I had just left the Jardin des Tuileries and walked onto the Léopold Sedar Senghor bridge and took a picture down the Seine which included Notre Dame. That is how I would like to remember Notre Dame. My heart remains with all of France.

It has been quite a year! This past year I have grown my Instagram to over six hundred, have had over a thousand visitors to afemmeunique.com, I celebrated a year at my nine to five, settled into my tiny addition, welcomed my parents to their permanent home in Colorado, lost both of my grandmothers, gained a sister-in-law, have tried new things that terrify me and I’ve loved every minute of all of it.

I want to share with you the biggest thing that has happened for me, the one thing I am most excited about. A year ago I visited Beaune, France with my brother by chance and I looked at him and said, I want to move here. While I am not moving to Beaune, I have decided to purchase a holiday home in Burgundy. I was just in France this last week deciding which town I would like to call my second home and I have made a decision. This is my fifth time to France and each time I visit I fall more in love.

Stay tuned to my posts coming at the end of the week to see the three cities I visited: Nevers, Chalon-sur-Saone and Auxerre to see which one I have chosen. I look forward to my new adventure and can’t wait to share it with you.

Merci beaucoup for a wonderful year it has been! I look forward to the year to come!
